In this 62th issue, Azimuts addresses an issue to examining how falsity challenges and interrogates forms of visibility, whether within the realm of art or in other fields.

This number is carried by LEM « Laboratoire d’expérimentation des modernités » research team from the École Supérieure d’Art et Design de Saint-Étienne. It is part of the Unité de Recherche Design & Création, supported by the French Ministry of Culture
The LEM focuses its research and experimental practices on the legacies of modernity, whether they position themselves in continuity with it or in rupture from it. Whether described as “post-”, “hyper-” or “alter-”, contemporary creation can only be defined in relation to the Big Bang that modernity represented, whether this relationship takes the form of inheritance, variation, rupture, or deliberate amnesia.
However, this “event horizon” is not singular but multiple. In its historical, political, and aesthetic dimensions, modernity must be rethought today in order to identify its complex particles and radiations—perhaps fossilized, yet still active—that continue to shape and condition our contemporaneity.
