A cycle of exhibitions and
a collection of books
dedicated to a new
generation of designers
A unique new panorama of
contemporary design
Initiated in September 2023 by the Cité du
design, the Présent > < Futur programme
bears witness to the variety of practices
encompassed by contemporary design.
It comprises a cycle of monographic
exhibitions and a collection of publications,
featuring three guest designers each
year. As a leading venue for dissemination
to the public but also a place where the
stakeholders in design can come together,
this Saint-Étienne institution is an ideal
place to spotlight a new generation of
designers. 200 m² of dedicated space will
enable each guest designer to put together
a personal exhibition and create their own
scenography. The project also offers a grant,
to give already established designers the
opportunity to take the time to look back at
their work overall, so that they can lay out
different projects they have undertaken and
construct a discourse on their own singular
practices.
