We will Design 2023

The event aims to become a platform for research and experimentation, with projects that venture beyond design, and beyond Design Week, trying to provide unconventional answers to the polarisations of our contemporary society.

Inclusion. Diversity. Equity. Accessibility: during the Design Week we are presenting original objects, exhibitions, workshops and appointments based on the acronym  I.D.E.A.:

INCLUSION: creating an environment in which all individuals feel welcomed, safe, respected, valued and supported to allow full participation and contribution.
DIVERSITY: each individual is unique and we recognize their peculiarities. Ethnic origins, gender (identity, expression), sexual orientation, provenance, socio-economic status, religion or belief, marital status, age and disability.
EQUITY: identify and remove barriers, especially economic ones, to ensure the full participation of all people and groups.
ACCESSIBILITY: design products, devices, services or environments for people with disabilities. A set of solutions that allow as many people as possible to participate in activities as effectively as possible.
Four dimensions and hundreds of intersections and nuances, intertwining the lives of nearly eight billion people on the planet. People of all kinds, races, ages, abilities, cultures, to whom plural design is by definition addressed.
A plurality that also tells the path of co-design and co-design that we carry out with attorз generally not included in conversations and tools of contemporary design.

Not quite an exhibition...

Base Milan proposed to Esadse to exhibit in a 1000 m2 space. For the Milan Design Week, rather than creating an exhibition, the CyDRe researchers decided to create a foyer - a quiet and friendly space for rest and discussion. This functional scenography, where each object is the result of in-depth research and has a practical function, is designed specifically for the event and produced in the Esadse workshops.
During the 7 days of Milan Design Week (18-23 April 2023), this space will be activated through a programme of workshops, discussions, performances and explorations. A programme creating an overview of Esadse's postgraduate design research, conditions for dialogue with the local Milan community and international Design Week visitors and new opportunities for future collaborations.
